The Walks are the setting for the Treasurer’s Reception which is taking place at the end of July and we are delighted to confirm that as in past years Academy members are able to attend. Please note that as Academy Members are ‘guests’ of the Inn numbers are severely limited for this event.

Lighthouse Club International is delighted to present this Construction Conference entitled “Opportunities and Challenges for the Construction Industry in Hong Kong and Overseas”. This Conference will cover a number of important topics which are currently providing both opportunities and challenges for all participants in the construction industry.

The Worshipful Company of Arbitrators Master's Lecture. This year the speakers will be Sir Ross Cranston QC and Sir Bernard Eder QC who will consider the future of Arbitration in London in what is undoubtedly an important year.

This event is open to those with an interest in public and private dispute resolution including arbitration and mediation practitioners, dispute resolution and litigation specialists in lsw firms and at the Bar, academics and students.

The theme for this year’s conference is Defects, Quality and Workmanship – Presenting the Evidence.

This early evening seminar run by the Worshipul Company of Arbitrators supported and hosted by Keating Chambers. The event format is 3 presentations followed by 2 panels. The panels are interactive and attendees may submit questions in advance.

This workshop will focus on the use of standard form contracts in Hong Kong, both from a legal and practical perspective. The Hong Kong Government’s support of NEC is widespread, and we are seeing FIDIC being commonly used as the starting point for contracts on the Belt and Road. But what does this actually mean in practice for the delivery of these projects. Are parties staying true to the contracts’ objectives? These matters and more will be addressed during the workshop.

EuroExpert is the Organisation for European Expert Associations and The Academy of Experts represent the UK. Member Organisations hold Symposia and other events which are designed to facilitate better communication and increased knowledge for those practising as Experts.  All these events have simultaneous translation from the local language into English which is the language of EuroExpert.

Reducing Risk in Construction

A one-day conference, for all levels of experience, covering the essentials of working competently as an expert witness.

Brian Clancy, a Chartered Civil and Structural Enginer as well an Academy of Experts' Council Member is an experienced expert witness. He will share his opnion on the role of the Expert Witness based on his experiences. His talk is based on an artilcle publsihed in "Forensic Engineering".

The event is being hosted by the North West Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
